The game is a narrative-driven psychological horror experience set across isolated and abandoned locations. The story follows a lone protagonist who awakens in an unfamiliar hospital with fragmented memories and a growing sense of unease.

As the protagonist escapes and journeys deeper into a forgotten village hidden within the forest, the environment gradually reveals traces of a forbidden ritual performed in the past.

The tone of the game is tense, unsettling, and introspective — emphasizing psychological fear, moral consequence, and atmosphere over direct confrontation.

IMINE 2.0

International Millennipreneur Innovation & Commercialization Exhibition 2.0

TMB Studio presented NGILAI — originally developed and conceptualized under the title Syirik — at IMINE 2.0, held at Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor (DATC), UiTM Shah Alam, Selangor on 12–14 April 2026. The exhibition brought together emerging entrepreneurs and innovators from across the region.

The showcase gave the team an opportunity to present NGILAI's concept, demonstrate early gameplay, and gather feedback from players, industry peers, and academics — an important milestone in the studio's development journey.

“Program ini memberi peluang kepada peserta untuk mendedahkan diri dalam industri pembangunan permainan, berkongsi idea kreatif serta membina jaringan hubungan profesional dalam bidang game development.”

— Muhammad Lutfi Hazim Zulkharnane, TMB Studio (UMS)

TMB Studio's participation at IMINE 2.0 was also featured in local press coverage of UMS students' achievements at the exhibition.

Why "NGILAI"?

  • An introduction to local folklore, especially from Borneo — Sabah and Sarawak
  • To show that during the old days, ritual was a common and meaningful practice
  • Rituals were not just for summoning — they were an exchange to gain great power, with consequence
  • A story that explores the weight of a deal made in desperation, and what it costs

Why Horror?

  • Less competition compared to action games, which dominate the market
  • Action games have high revenue but also higher market saturation
  • Horror allows for rich storytelling with smaller teams and budgets
  • Malaysian horror folklore is deeply underrepresented in games globally — a clear gap to fill
  • Inspired by successful Malaysian horror titles like The Night Job: Hotel
